Official book description

I have a plan.

We'll either destroy them for good, or they'll destroy us.

Either way, only one of us is walking away.

In the stunning conclusion to the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, Alice "Ali" Bell thinks the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with boyfriend Cole Holland, the leader of the zombie slayers…until Anima Industries, the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, killing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous than monsters…and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discovers she, too, can control the zombies…and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's connected to the woman responsible for killing—and turning—Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken or killed, Ali will fight harder than ever to bring down Anima—even sacrificing her own life for those she loves.

Thoughts: It looks intense! Haha, and a really cool rendition of the Queen of Hearts. She does look a little insane huh?

Stacking the Shelves (3) + Cover Reveal + Giveaway + Interesting Book Finds *Phew*

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews featuring the books we got this week.

It's been SOOOOOOOO quiet lately that I only got one book last week. But oh what a super incredible book I can't wait to get started on it. It's the first ARC (advanced reader's copy) I have requested on Netgalley in a super long time - bout 2 years - and the first time I'm requesting from this publisher. This publisher has championed many popular books and they're quite popular (and I go on random hiatus) so I wasn't sure if I would be approved. SO YES, not a small amount of squealing ensued when I received the approval email.

Netgalley eARC

Series: The Malediction Trilogy #1
Expected Publication: April 1st, 2014
Publisher: Strange Chemistry/Angry Robot Ltd
Blurb: For those who have loved Seraphina and Graceling comes another truly fabulous fantasy...

For five centuries, a witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

Cécile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.

But something unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.

As Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever.

Status Update: Just finished Haze by Paula Weston and The Almost Girl by Amalie Howard over the last 3-4 days. LOVED tAG, Haze was not bad but wasn't a favorite. tAG is almost a fave. I'm a quarter into SS and I'm kinda digging it so far.

This is supposed to be posted Feb 11, 9am EST, but that EST suffix is screwing with me so I'm just going to post it 24hours after Feb 11, 9am here in Singapore.

Oh wellz, Rachel (Fiktshun) does this Netgalley finds thing regularly and she includes contemporary romance too, click HERE to see. I'm pretty narrow when it comes to ARCs cause I try to be strict with myself to reduce my DNFs, so yeah, her list would be more comprehensive. :)

Cover Reveal: Lover, Divine by A. Star

I don't normally take part in cover reveals cause one of my pet peeves is covers. I'm sorry but I usually judge a book by its cover. Covers tell me a lot about a book - genre, mostly, but you can sort of tell the writing style of the author from a cover, whether is it more romance-heavy or action-based, and whether it's self-published or traditionally published. That's why I'm afraid I won't like the cover when it's sent to me in advance but I'd still have to post it since I agreed to take part in the reveal. But this book is about GREEK GODS AND MYTHS, so of course I had to take part.

Lover, Divine
by A. Star
Series: Mythos: Gods & Lovers #1
Expected Publication: February 25th 2014
Genres: Adult, Mythology, Romance
Blurb

Born into one of the wealthiest families in Ireland, Siobhan Law has status, privilege, and a secret: The Greek gods of Olympus and their kingdom in the clouds are real, and her family acts as one of their agents on Earth.

When the beautiful immortal celeste Liam Argyros shows up claiming to have come to Earth to deal in the affairs of the divine, Siobhan finds herself unable to resist his charms. New to the game of passion and seduction, she quickly ends up in over her head, sinking deeper with every attempt Liam makes to win her over.

But Liam’s divine mission is far more complex than she ever imagined and nothing is truly as it seems. Because Liam has a secret of his own: He is Apollo, Olympian god of the Sun, and his mission will never be complete until he has claimed Siobhan’s heart forever.

Kudos to Regina from Mae I Design for designing the cover!

Cover Reveal + Excerpt: Astarte's Wrath by Trisha Wolfe

Astarte’s Wrath
A Kythan Guardians Novella
Prequel to Destiny’s Fire
By Trisha Wolfe
Expected publication: July 2012
The Blurb

Two thousand years before Dez Harkly developed her secret powers, Kythan Astarte vowed to free the Kythans from the binds that enslaved them to the Egyptian pharaohs and sorcerers. Discover the prophecy that originated from a very different time, and spans generations to link two very different girls...This is the beginning.

Set against the backdrop of the Battle of Actium, in the city of Alexandria, Star struggles with her guardian duties as her feelings for the newly named pharaoh of Egypt grow deeper. Not only is Caesarian her duty, he’s the son of Cleopatra, and he’s…human. All of which makes their love forbidden.

But when a conspiracy linked to Caesar, Caesarian’s own father, creeps its ways into Alexandria, Star must choose between helping her fellow Kythans free themselves of their servitude, or protecting her charge—the last pharaoh—while Egypt burns around her.

An Excerpt from Astarte's Wrath

Whenever the sky bleeds, covering the once-blue pallet with crimson, and the bright ball of fire burns through billowy puffs of white, staining them and the earth in hues of red-orange and amber…and ash floats on a non-existent breeze, I know the Narcolym Guardians are waging a battle.

Shuttering my window, I unloose the hemp thread, and a sheer curtain veils the sand-covered horizon from my vision. My fingers trail the cream fabric, the tips tracing the darkening clouds against the light material as my other hand curls into a fist by my thigh, dousing the swirling vortex rising up at the charge in the air.

            “Star…?”

Astarte, I correct inwardly, but pinch my lips closed. “Yes, Habi?”

Habi’s footsteps echo throughout the mud-brick room as he approaches. “It’s time…”

My Thoughts

Do I see Ancient Egypt and Rome???? AHHH, MY THING!! Haha, and look at those Ankhs of Life around the title of the book! I'm definitely on the look out for this one in July. Are you? :)

Patience is a Virtue (8) + [Another] Cover Reveal

Shall I do the PiaV segment first, or the cover reveal? Hmm.......... I'm so excited for both, but I think Cover Reveal first since I will be featuring A LOT of books for today's PiaV.

Arise
The Syrenka Series #3
By Amber Garr
The Blurb

Not confirmed yet.

Amber is anticipating a May release, so let's all cross our fingers!

My Thoughts: The cover's BEAUTIFUL!! Don't you think? It's so mysterious, surreal, and utterly magical. And is that fire around her feet?? GAH, I want to read the book just by looking at the cover. Another masterpiece by PhatPuppyArt. :)

Now for Patience is a Virtue (#8)!

For those of you who haven't seen any of my previous Patience is a Virtue posts yet, this is a kind of a meme of sorts where I post the books that I already own and I can't wait to start on, but can't cause I'm still reading some other books. I know there's another meme going on which is similar to this one (The Time Will Come, Dusty Reads etc), but since I've started this already, I'm UNSTOPPABLE. MUAHAHHA. Ok, I'm just messing with you. But yeah, I don't want to stop, and I do this post on my own time and target.

I was stalking Kitty Thomas' website yesterday, salivating over her backlist of books, then I decided to request review copies for THREE of her novels, and she said yes!!!!!! Like last night!:D:D:D:D::D:D:D I am super, super, super excited to start on it, but I have so many ARCs to read first!! So hence, this PiaV post. :)

If you haven't heard of Kitty Thomas yet, she is a BDSM erotica writer who writes really unique BDSM - albeit a little disturbing - novels, involving lots of psychological play and stuff. Really cool stuff.

So, first up:

The King's Pleasure
By Kitty Thomas
Recently Released in 2011
The Blurb

In the kingdom of Himeros, Abigail is despised for her gypsy heritage. Pushed to the fringes of society, she’s forced to break the law in order to help feed her family. When a castle guard catches her stealing bread, he intends to cut off her hand for the offense.

Niall has just taken the throne and is determined to prove he isn’t a monster like his father. Awakened by the cries of a gypsy, he spares her from the guard’s blade and takes her as his slave instead. When he learns she doesn’t understand the kingdom’s carnal ways, he becomes determined to strip her of all inhibitions until her every desire is in service to the king’s pleasure.

Word Count: around 21,000
Warnings: This book contains master/slave, group sexual activity, mild sadomasochism, oral and anal play, exhibitionism, and voyeurism.

It sounds so freakin' hot and awesome! XP

Cover Reveal + Excerpt: My Super Sweet 16th Century by Rachel Harris

My Super Sweet 16th Century
By Rachel Harris
Expected Publication Date: September 11th, 2012
The Blurb

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore.

Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

Preordering is now available at: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

An Excerpt

I hear their muffled whispers and understand every Italian word. Every witty comment made at my expense.

It’s like my brain is automatically translating.

I bunch the soft fabric of the dress in my hand and then reach up to feel the ribbon in my hair. I lightly skim my fingers over my chin and feel my lack of zit. I take in the costumes of the crowd, the stench of the animals, and the Italian I can now speak and understand. And suddenly it hits me.

Reyna must have pulled some kind of gypsy mojo.

Maybe this is one of those nifty “change your life” magic scenarios like in the movies. I mean, mostly I’m still expecting to blink and be right back in the midst of overpriced, gaudy tourism, but for now, the gypsy-time-warp explanation is infinitely better than thinking I’ve lost my mind. As I decide to go with that option, I feel my frantic tension melt away.

The growing crowd seems to notice my change in demeanor and begins shooting one another amused looks, but I don’t care anymore. A smile stretches across my face. Evidently, I was wrong earlier; Reyna is a psychic mind reader, because if this is her special brand of bibbity-bobbity-boo, then she made my exact daydream from earlier in the courtyard come to life.

The long red gown, the braided hair, the Italian merchant’s daughter, the time period. I am in Renaissance Florence.

I stare dumbly at the ground, the words and reality sinking in.

        I’m in Renaissance Florence!

My Thoughts

Another River of Time series????!!!!! SIGN ME UP! Damn, it sounds SO good, and so like Lisa Tawn Bergren's River of Time series that I just have to get this once it's out. Just that this one would be without all the battles and glory, fighting alongside hot knights and lords, but oh well, it may even be better, but all I can do now is cross my fingers and hope that it's as good as I'm anticipating it to be. :D

About the cover...HAHA what's up with the sunglasses and the hair! I know it's supposed to create a contrast between it and the Victorian style dress, accessories and background, but it still looks odd. Isn't hair that are not bundled up considered to be like, prostitute style? I don't read much about the Victorian era, so I'm not that learned in this area. But if I am right, Cat, you'd better be careful now that you're there!

Lol, ok I'm being lame. So, anyway, I am very excited about this book. Are you? What do you think of the cover? :)

Cover Reveal--Archangel's Storm has a cover!!

Archangel's Storm

Guild Hunter series #5

By Nalini Singh (awesome-est author!!)

Expected Publication: September 4th 2012 by Berkley Sensation

Other information about AS: As was mentioned at Ms Singh's blog, this book will be about Jason.

Author's Website | Blog | Goodreads | Facebook | Twitter

My Thoughts

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! *Coughs* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Even though I was - and still am - yearning for another book in Elena's POV, I don't mind having the sequel in Jason's cause he's my next favourite character!! Apart from Raphael, that is. Look at that cover! So intense! One thing though: I didn't expect Jason to be so....huge. I imagined him being lean and a little buff, but not THAT buff. He is Raphael's spymaster, so shouldn't they be more, well, built to be nimble? But still, I do love that cover.:D

But my favourite cover is still ANGEL'S FLIGHT, which by the way, releases today! If you don't know about it (gasp!), it is an anthology with stories of some secondary characters in the Guild Hunter series.

Available in paperback and ebook, purchase your copy here:

So what do you think of the cover?:)

Cover Reveal: Bourne by Lisa Tawn Bergren!!

Here comes the first novella in the River of Time series by Lisa Tawn Bergren! And it's the story of MY MAN! MUAhahhaha. *coughs* Ok, kidding. But yes, he is my favourite character in TROT apart from Gabi.

So, introducing BOURNE, The River of Time series #3.5...

Tentative release date: 2/1-2/14

Isn't is beautiful? I've always liked that far-off feeling all the books in this series give me, and this is one of my favourite ones. This book takes place after TORRENT, third book in the series. Ah..Greco is swoon-worthy, of course he'd get a gorgeous cover for his own book. B)

Ms Bergren's posted some frequently asked Q&A thingy on her website about the series. You can go check it out HERE. And I really like her post title: A Cover is BOURNE!!! HAH! Good one!

The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

Sixteen-year-old Tess lives in a compound in what was once the Western United States, now decimated after a devastating fourth World War. But long before that, life as we knew it had been irrevocably changed, as women mysteriously lost the ability to bring forth life. Faced with the extinction of the human race, the government began the Council of Creators, meant to search out alternative methods of creating life. The resulting artificial human beings, or Chosen Ones, were extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.

Life is bleak, but uncomplicated for Tess as she follows the rigid rules of her dystopian society, until the day she begins work at Templeton, the training facility for newly created Chosen Ones. There, she meets James, a Chosen One whose odd love of music and reading rivals only her own. The attraction between the two is immediate in its intensity—and overwhelming in its danger.

But there is more to the goings-on at Templeton than Tess ever knew, and as the veil is lifted from her eyes, she uncovers a dark underground movement bent not on taking down the Chosen Ones, but the Council itself. Will Tess be able to stand up to those who would oppress her, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?

When Ms Jensen sent me the picture a few days ago, I was stunned! The new cover for Sleepers was so pretty!! A far cry from the previous one. So, here's the lovely:

By PhatPuppy

Here's the synopsis
An adoptee raised in a foreign land, sixteen-year-old Lianne was content with her life as handmaiden to the queen, until a spell cast on her at birth activated. Now she's filled with uncontrollable rage and access to magic she thought had been bled from her people years ago. Even her years of secret training in elite hand-to-hand combat and meditation can’t calm the fires raging inside her.

Her heart is torn between two boys, the one she’s always loved and the one who always ignored her. But when the kingdom threatens to tear itself apart due to rumors surrounding the queen’s alleged affair, who will Lianne protect and who will she destroy?

Cover Reveal--Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Jennifer's on a roll! After publishing her first novel, Daimon, she's been signing new contracts and getting TONS of new followers. Haha, and now it's time for the cover reveal for the sequel to Obsidian, ONYX. And yes, it's as awesome as the rest of her book covers.

So, you ready for the real deal?

...

...

And a sneak peek at the official blurb:

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Oooh, mysterious. And it's so pretty, ain't it? I love the blue and the starry night sky. And if you haven't seen the first book, Obsidian, yet, here it is:

Obsidian
Book One in the Lux series
The Blurb

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Cover Reveal--In The Service of the King by Laura Kaye

I realise I haven't done a Cover Reveal post for an adult book yet, but I saw one today and thought that the cover was real sexy, so, here I am.:)

The book I'm going to be featuring is...

In The Service of the King!
The Blurb

Kael the Fair, one of seven reigning vampire warrior kings, loathes the Night of the Proffering—the night he must feed from a human female virgin to maintain his immortality and his humanity. By feeding directly from the veins of the Proffered as he takes her virginity, Kael could determine whether the mating bond exists between them—but war and a previous loss lead the king to refuse to take a mate. Groomed for the Proffering, twenty-year-old Shayla McKinnon risks her promising academic career to make two other dreams come true—vengeance for her sister's murder at the hands of the evil Soul Eaters and the impossible goal of capturing the Warrior King’s heart. In the feeding chamber this night, a battle of wills ensues, one played out through a game of domination and submission that might prove dangerous to both of their hearts.
Release date: Febuary 1st, 2012

My Thoughts

Doesn't that cover just scream "sexy"? It's sooooooo delicious!! Haha. My mom must never find out about this post. But anyway, I haven't read any of Kaye's books yet, but they all look really, really great, so I guess I'll be starting this one soon. Or as soon as I read all the books that are up for the upcoming blog tours that I'm hosting.XP

Anyway, what do you think? Is it a little too rated for this blog? I don't think that there're any kids following my blog or anyone who's actually younger than me, so oh heck it, right?;)

Especially now a formidable sorcerer has discovered her existence.

[Another] Cover Reveal and Cover Love -- Threads

I'm so sorry for clogging up my followers' news feed with so many cover reveals... But I've just found this today and I just had to share it.

...

...

THREADS is the second book in The Outsiders Trilogy.
The cover is by Claudia McKinney from Phatpuppyart (www.phatpuppyart.com).
It still doesn't have a blurb yet, not that I could find any...

My Thoughts

I just had to enlarge it cause it was just so beautiful. I still have yet to buy the first book and read it, the synopsis and all are so intriguing. You can find the first book HERE. And to save time, here's the blurb of the first book from Goodreads:

" Sixteen-year-old Julia finds herself leaving her London life behind to move with her parents to the Amazon jungle.
A native descendant, she becomes familiarized with her own roots for the first time in her life. However, she never imagined she is about to discover much more than her own past but also just how crowded our little planet is...
"

I'm not sure why, but it reminds me of FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs... Maybe it's that surreal quality that they both possess, but... maybe not.

Lol, anyway, what do you think about it?

[Belated] Cover Reveal -- Black Howl Has A Cover!

I'm so excited!! I wouldn't say I'd recommend this series, but I was seriously hooked when I read it.

So, introducing...

The Blurb

And while work is bad enough, Maddy has a plethora of personal problems too. Now that Gabriel has been assigned as her thrall, their relationship has hit an impasse. At least her sleazy ex-fiancé Nathaniel is out of the picture — or so she thinks...

About Black Howl: This is third book in the Madeline Black series
Release date:  February 28, 2012
You can find Henry at: Her website | Goodreads

My Thoughts

She looks totally kickass, doesn't she? Cause she totally is. And the synopsis says Nathaniel will be back trying to woo her again! Yessss. Lol, yep, that's it.

It's so effing pretty, I swear. She said that the synopsis is a little spoilery tho, so you may not want to read it. There will also be an Aiden POV blog tour coming soon, but... Wait, let me quote:
