Shaedes of Gray
Shaede Assassin #1
By Amanda Bonilla
The Blurb

In the shadows of the night, Darian has lived alone for almost a century. Made and abandoned by her former love, Darian is the last of her kind—an immortal Shaede who can slip into darkness as easily as breathing. With no one else to rely on, she has taught herself how to survive, using her unique skills to become a deadly assassin.

When Darian's next mark turns out to be Xander Peck, King of the Shaede Nation, her whole worldview is thrown into question. Darian begins to wonder if she's taken on more than her conscience will allow. But a good assassin never leaves a job unfinished...

My Teaser

“You should be killed for your disrespect,” she seethed in my ear. “You are nothing—less than nothing—and I won’t need much of an excuse to cut your throat.”

“Try it,” Tyler’s voice came as a growl. “I’ll fuck you up if you draw even a drop of her blood.”

“That’s enough, Anya,” the high king said. “Let her go. I’d hate to see anyone . . . fucked up tonight.”

I haven't done a TT in quite a while - it may be due to laziness - but I've recently read this book that I just had to share.

Katana
By Cole Gibsen
My Teaser

As it had in the mall parking lot, a calm focus flooded through me and pushed the confusion from my mind.

This one is inexperienced with a blade,  the voice whispered. It won’t take much to bring him down.

I felt the unfamiliar smile return to my lips—this was going to be fun. I dodged the outstretched blade inches before my skin was to be torn apart by sharpened metal.

Spinning  behind  the  first  attacker,  I  ducked  low  to  ground, kicked my leg, and swept his feet out from under him. He landed on his back and groaned.

The next attacker circled me, his eyes darting nervously back and forth between me and his fallen comrade.

His body was rigid as he waited for an opportunity to move in.

This one is looking for a hole in our defense. We mustn’t give him one.

“Sounds good to me,” I whispered.

The attacker hesitated.

I straightened my stance. “Yeah that’s right, I’m talking to myself! What of it?”

--Quoted from eARC, so it may appear different in the final copy

I was deliberating between a fight scene and a romantic scene but decided against the romantic one because this book is more on Rileigh discovering her inner samurai. It focuses a lot on the love story between Rileigh and Kim and also them in their past lives, but I really liked ALL of the fight scenes. It's a little long, but well, I couldn't find any shorter ones that were nice.:/

This teaser also shows how snarky and kickass our heroine is. Haha. KATANA releases in March this year, so look out for it!

What's the teaser that you want to share this week? Leave them or your links in the comments so I can check them out! :)

I've only recently just read this book (you can read its synopsis and my review HERE), wasn't really into it, but there were some parts that were memorable. And my below teaser's one that I found really hilarious and sexy at the same time.;)

Chains of Silver
The Vampire, The Witch and The Werewolf #2
My Teaser

As soon as Nick opened the door, Silver rushed him. The force with which she hit him would normally have knocked him off his feet. Instead, she bounced backward and he reached out to steady her.

"Solid," she said, placing her hand against his naked chest, and flexing her fingers over his pecs. Drops of water dripped off his dreads, and he smelled fresh. "How do you feel?"

"Why does everyone keep asking me that?"

"Because you were dead minutes ago, dufas,"....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it wasn't the original funny one, but this one's good too, so oh well. Remember to leave your teasers in the comments section!

Just finished this book. Review's in the previous post!:)

My Teaser

“We in a hurry?” I asked. “I got things to pick up at Miner’s.”

“Like what? I just bought enough snacks to…”

“Woman stuff.”

Those two words worked every time. Dad stared at me in stunned male silence, letting what I said sink in.

“No problem. Finish your fries. I’ll be back.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lol, I found the phrase "stunned male silence" so inherently funny. Anyway, link up your teasers in the comments! And thanks for stopping by!

I've just finished reading LORD OF THE ABYSS by Nalini Singh yesterday and I really liked it. So, here's a snippet of my favourite part of the book. Oh, be forewarned - this teaser is gonna be LOOOONG.:)

My Teaser
A strong hand clamped down on her wrist, his palm hot and rough, the brush of the razored points extending from his gauntlet an unnamed threat. “Where is Bard?” It was a silken question.

“Outside the door,” she said, realizing he was pulling her down.

She resisted.

He compelled.

Until her lips were on a level with his.

Her heart pounded hard enough to bruise against her ribs, but she couldn’t take her eyes off those sugar-sweet lips. “My lord?” Her voice came out a croak.

His mouth curved, as if he could read her thoughts, and she held her breath, waiting to see what he would do. Right then, she had the sudden, shocking realization that she might permit him any liberty, no matter how darkly wicked, if he would only allow her to sup at those lips, to taste his mouth.

“You smell, Liliana.” He released her wrist. “You must bathe.”

Ouch! Haha, hope you enjoyed my teaser. Thanks for stopping by! And remember to leave your teaser or teaser links in the comments section.:)

Teaser Tuesday (7)

Not many people are into the Egyptian myth hype like Percy Jackson's Greek myth hype, and I want to correct that! Cause to me, Ancient Egypt was a much more civilised and romantic place than the misogynistic Ancient Greeks and Romans.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

And one of my favourite and one of the more factual ones I've come across is The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran. Oh, and uh, it's going to be a long teaser.^^"

The Blurb

In ancient Egypt, a forgotten princess must overcome her family’s past and remake history.

The winds of change are blowing through Thebes. A devastating palace fire has killed the Eighteenth Dynasty’s royal family—all with the exception of Nefertari, the niece of the reviled former queen, Nefertiti. The girl’s deceased family has been branded as heretical, and no one in Egypt will speak their names. A relic of a previous reign, Nefertari is pushed aside, an unimportant princess left to run wild in the palace. But this changes when she is taken under the wing of the Pharaoh’s aunt, then brought to the Temple of Hathor, where she is educated in a manner befitting a future queen.

Soon Nefertari catches the eye of the Crown Prince, and despite her family’s history, they fall in love and wish to marry. Yet all of Egypt opposes this union between the rising star of a new dynasty and the fading star of an old, heretical one. While political adversity sets the country on edge, Nefertari becomes the wife of Ramesses the Great. Destined to be the most powerful Pharaoh in Egypt, he is also the man who must confront the most famous exodus in history.

Sweeping in scope and meticulous in detail, The Heretic Queen is a novel of passion and power, heartbreak and redemption.

My Teaser

"It's true," he whispered.

Suddenly, I was aware of how close we were standing, so close I could touch the square of his jaw or the chiseled planes of his face. "What's true?"

"You are as beautiful as I remembered. Nefer," he said, and his breath came quickly. "Perhaps you want to simply remain my friend, but when I was gone, all I could think about was you. When I was supposed to be thinking about the rebellion, or how my men would find fresh water in the desert, all I could think of was how you wanted to be hidden away in the Temple of Hathor. Nefer," he said passionately, "you can't be a priestess."

I wanted to close my eyes and step into the shelter of his embrace, but beyond the column the entire court was gathering. "But if I'm not to be a priestess," I asked him, "where will my place be in Thebes?" I held my breath, waiting for the right answer to come, willing it into his heart. Then he took me in his arms and brushed his lips against mine.

"With me," he said firmly. "As my queen."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I loved this book with all my heart, and well, I think it's as good as any urban fantasy out there. And coming from me, that's really saying something.

Thanks for stopping by! Remember to leave your teaser links or teasers in the comments section so I can go check it out!

Blurb from Goodreads:
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.

My Teasers

There are many, many aspects to Kale, our dear male hero, so I've decided to highlight just a few of those that made me fall so hard for him.

Scary Kale: “They put a lot into creating me,” Kale said in an eerie, low voice. “They’ve never found anyone like me before, they will not give up. I am of dual use to them. It’s not only my touch they use, but my blood.”

Innocent, sweet Kale: “Let’s not talk anymore about Denazen,” I took his hand. “Tell me about the dancing. How did you learn?”

“Something Sue showed me once when I was younger, an old film on the television,” he said, voice thick and drowsy. “I was fascinated with it. The man, Fred, danced a lot. That’s how I learned.”

Old movie? Fred? “Fred Astaire? Is that who you mean? You’re saying you learned to dance from watching a Fred Astaire movie?”

“That sounds right. I watched him twirl that woman around, holding her close. He told her he loved her.” He pulled away, looking down at me, those ice blue eyes intense. “I think I understand that now. I think I love you.”

And then there's our crazy, kickass heroine: Once I was steady on my skateboard, he tipped back his beer and downed what was left.

Together, we peered over the edge of the barn roof. The party was in full swing below us. Fifteen of our closest—and craziest—friends.

Brandt sighed. “Can you really do this?”

I handed him my own empty bottle. “They don’t call me Queen of Crazy Shit for nothing.” Gilman was poised on his skateboard to my left. Even in the dark, I could see the moonlight glisten off the sweat beading his brow. Pansy. “You ready?”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, there you have it. I've gotta stop there because I'm already breaking SO MANY rules. Haha, so thanks for stopping by and be sure to leave your TT links in the comments so I can check them out!

And once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOUCH!!

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to leave your teaser links or teasers in the comments so I can go check it out!

Teaser Tuesday (5) - The Iron Fey Special [FINAL Part]

A little introduction. The Iron Fey series is written by Julie Kagawa. It has some crazy reviews and ratings on Goodreads, and it is one of my favourite series of all time. You should try it if you haven't..It's like, the new "in" thing now.:)

This Iron Fey "Special" thing is that I will post a teaser on each of the Iron Fey series books every week, leading up to Oct 25th, where the fourth and sadly final book will be released, titled The Iron Knight.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

So, since today is the fourth week of my Iron Fey Special, it would be featuring....

Blurb from Goodreads:
My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn.

I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her.

My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…

Not a very informative blurb, but... Oh well.

My Teaser
Stunned, I opened myself up to my glamour, trying to draw it from the air as I’d always done.

Nothing. No glamour, no magic, no swirling emotions or colors. I felt a deep stab of terror and loss as I backed away, trying to think. Had a binding been placed on me, locking away my glamour? Was there a seal over the area, preventing magic use? I realized with horror that it was none of these.

Even through a binding or a seal, I would have been able to sense my glamour. I felt only emptiness. As if I had never had magic in the first place.

What's happening to Ash? Has he really lost his glamor powers? Well, you have to read it to find out.:)

The Iron Knight releases today! Be sure to wish it a happy birthday when you pass by it in stores.

I loved The Iron Fey series, so I was very sad when it all ended. So, what do you think of this series so far? Wanna discuss?

Today's Iron Fey teaser will be onnnnnnn...............

The Iron Queen! Third book in The Iron Fey series.

Blurb from Goodreads:
My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

My Teaser
1) Drawing my blade, I wheeled Spikerail to face the army - my army, truth be told - and looked out over the taut, waiting forces.
"For Faery!" I called, raising my sword, and the rebels took up the cry.

2) My voice was lost then, as Ash closed the final few inches and kissed me. And in the quiet stillness before dawn, on the brink of a war that could tear us apart, our auras danced and twined in the darkness, coiling around each other until they finally merged, becoming one.

I was aiming for a quote that conveyed how much the book focuses on what. So since it was a lot about how Meghan stepped up to be a mature leader of her own army and about the romance that developed even more between her and Ash, I thought I'd pick those two up there.

Thanks for stopping by! So, what do you think about the series so far?

Teaser Tuesday (#3) - The Iron Fey Special [Part Two]

Ok, some of you might know (or infer from the title of the post) that I've thought to do this Iron Fey Special. A little introduction. The Iron Fey series is written by Julie Kagawa. It has some crazy reviews and ratings on Goodreads, and it is one of my favourite series of all time. You should try it if you haven't..It's like, the new "in" thing now.:)

  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

So, introducing......

..

..

Blurb from Goodreads:
Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

Since I gave a teaser on Ash and Meghan last week, I thought some Puck goodness was in order.

My Teaser

A low hum vibrated in the air, accompanied by the rhythmic sound of tapping keys. Humans sat at desks within each cubicle, dressed in identical white shirts and gray pants, staring glassy-eyed at the monitors as they typed away.

"Whoa," Puck muttered, looking around. "Cubicle hell."

Simultaneously, the tapping stopped. --Page 238

I wanted to post a part where Puck was all serious and all hotness, but then it wouldn't have brought out the real Puck. The one that was the legendary Prankster and the one who was always there with a good joke or two up his sleeve.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! So what do you think of the series so far?

Teaser Tuesday (#2) - The Iron Fey Special [Part One]

Since it is just nice 3 weeks from the release of The Iron Knight, I thought it would be nice to post a teaser on each book in the series leading up to it.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

So, presenting.............

..

..

Blurb from Goodreads:
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

My Teaser

[Ash] shook his head, examining the wound again. "It's not frostbitten," he muttered. "It'll blister, but you should be fine. You might only lose a ccouple fingers."

I glanced at him sharply, but he was smirking. For a moment, I was speechless.. Good God, the Ice Prince was making jokes now; the world must be ending.
--Page 289

Ok, I think it's official now that I won't be following the 2 teaser sentences rule. Lol, yep, that's it for today. I couldn't really find a good quote tho..The whole thing's just amazing. READ IT!

Sooo, what d'you think about this Iron Fey special?

Remember to look out for next week's The Iron Daughter teaser! :)

Teaser Tuesday (#1)

I'm feeling really tired now, so I can't be bothered to make a button for my own teaser tuesdays. Lol, but I am going to share a teaser from this book which I'd gotten from Netgalley which I REALLY liked, and which would be released on September 19th, 2011! Before I begin, let me gve some credits and instructions first.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

Altered Destiny by Shawna Thomas

Synopsis:
Selia has run her family's tavern since she was fifteen and can hunt and fight the equal of any man. When she rescues a badly wounded man and nurses him back to health, she has no idea she's about to change not only her life, but also the destinies of two peoples…

The battered warrior is Svistra—a race of bloodthirsty savages determined to destroy her homeland. Or so the stories claim. Jaden reveals a different truth: how his ancestors were driven into the barren northern mountains. Now they are strong and war parties are pushing south wanting their land back.

The son of a Svistra Commander, Jaden is looking for a way to bring peace to both humans and Svistrans. He tries to ignore his growing passion for Selia, but when she is captured he has to decide what he would be willing to sacrifice to save the woman he loves…

My Teaser:

" “Not even Svistra can track in weather like this. Our trail is gone.” He moved, and she could feel the whisper of his voice next to her ear. “Relax, Selia. We’ll be here a while.” "

Uh oh, I've broken a few rules already. Firstly, that wasn't 2 lines. Secondly, it wasn't a random page; It was my favourite scene in the book :P.

But oh well, it's 38% of the Kindle version of the book.

My review of the book can be found here: Review of Altered Destiny by Shawna Thomas.

So, what's your teaser tuesday?
